Romney Announces Vatican Ambassador Endorsements While Santorum Cuts Rally Short to Attend Mass

Mormon Bishop Mitt Romney today announced that he has been endorsed by five former Vatican Ambassadors. The announcement was being reported on news agencies (e.g., The Daily Beast Cheat Sheet) while Rick Santorum, a faithful Catholic, was cutting a rally in New Hampshire 30 minutes short in order to attend Mass before tonight’s debate. Peter Ingemi, also known as DaTechGuy, attended today’s New Hampshire rally and reported to me by phone this evening:

“Hey Lisa! I have some news that is going to make you very happy!”

This was very exciting. Peter told me that he caught Senator Santorum as he was leaving a rally this afternoon. Senator Santorum was in rather a hurry, so Peter asked him where he was going.

“Going to Mass!”

Peter knows that does, indeed, make me very happy. Rick attends daily Mass whenever possible, he told me recently, and according to our friend Matthew Balan, it is not a new commitment for him.

Peter Ingemi, Stacy McCain and Mike Rogers of Granite Grok will all be attending National Review’s debate event this evening. (Debate live streams here.) Mike’s partner Skip will, I am told, have a good deal of content at Granite Grok this evening, as will Peter Ingemi at DaTechGuy blog, so please stay tuned to both. McCain plans to hang out for drinks……or blog….or both….so The Other McCain might be interesting tonight. We’ll see.

Happy Debate Night!! Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS to Bishop Romney on those Vatican ambassador endorsements! I guess your campaign plan to focus on electability instead of beliefs and principles is really paying off in the endorsement department. We’ll see how it plays with voters. If it doesn’t help your polling,  you might consider converting to Islam. That could win you some votes from Democrats and Independents.
