Yet another poll of Iowa shows former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum moving up in Iowa — a new We Ask America snap poll from last night shows Santorum taking second among likely attendees of Tuesday’s Republican caucuses with 17 percent. It’s the first poll to show the former senator within striking distance of the lead, as former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is first with 24 percent.
I would guess that Iowans who are in the “not Romney” movement are deciding that Ron Paul’s troubling positions on social issues and national security are just a bit too extreme to merit their support. Seeing Rick Santorum as viable, they are moving more and more into his camp where fiscal sanity, social conservatism and a strong national security all reign supreme. Iowans don’t have to settle for less than an authentic across-the-board conservative. They have found just such a candidate in Rick Santorum…and so, the Santorum surge continues.
Thanks be to God.
