God has seen fit to create a new island in the Red Sea.

Volcanic activity in the Red Sea that started in mid-December has created what looks like a new island. The Advanced Land Imager (ALI) on NASA’s Earth Observing-1 (EO-1) satellite captured a high-resolution, natural-color image on December 23, 2011 showing an apparent island where previously there was none. 

My friend Donna (Rantings on the Bay) and I are claiming this island for our own. We already have our underwear packed in Wal-Mart bags. She has promised to do the dishes if I will cook, and I have agreed. We hereby dub the name of this island “Bandita Rant”. Christening coming soon.

The Other McCain, who is the future Ambassador to Vanuatu, is invited to our first party. I hope he brings Coronas and lime.
