Here is some important and wonderful advice from Pope Benedict XVI.
From Catholic Online:
Our prayerful Pope is calling the whole church to prayer. He is correct, of course, “Jesus reveals the mystery of prayer”. He reminds us that “while prayer is a gift of God, it is also an art learned through constant practice. Jesus teaches us to pray constantly, but also to bear witness before others of the beauty of prayer, self-surrender and complete openness to God.” Prayer is an ongoing dialogue of intimate communion with God. The Holy Spirit is calling for a generation of contemplatives in every state in life.
And here is the really cool thing. Per the advice of St. Thomas Aquinas regarding habit and virtue, if you pray constantly, your life will become a living prayer…and you will have a joyful heart amid the greatest trials. Take my advice (and the Pope’s) to pray without ceasing. You will eventually wonder whatever on earth made you think that you should hesitate to pray! Trust me when I say that when your life becomes a living prayer, it does not interfere with your other duties. To the contrary, it makes all of your duties more fruitful.
