Insignia of the Muslim Brotherhood
This is heartbreaking, but it was all inevitable due to so many sitting on their hands. Via Memeorandum.
White House Statement on Egypt:
The United States congratulates Dr. Mohamed Morsi on his victory in Egypt’s Presidential election, and we congratulate the Egyptian people for this milestone in their transition to democracy.
A milestone? I think not. I agree with Allen West, via HotAir.com.
A year ago there were those of us who warned the Obama Administration of a Muslim Brotherhood takeover in Egypt. We were castigated as alarmists and loose cannons. Today our predictions have come to reality and the ominous specter reminding us of the Iranian revolution is evident. The Muslim Brotherhood claimed they would not run a presidential candidate. Clearly the Arab Spring is nothing more than a radical Islamic nightmare. Now we need to unequivocally reiterate our support to the Coptic Christians and Israel. What an incredible foreign policy faux pas by the second coming of President Jimmy Carter, the Obama Administration. I call upon President Barack Obama to cut off American foreign aid to Egypt, denounce the results of this election, repudiate the Muslim Brotherhood, and all radical Islamist political entities.
The only thing I would question in Allen West’s statement is use of the term “faux pas” because it doesn’t stress enough that this administration is responsible, in large part, for this happening. I happen to think it was quite intentional, on the part of the Obama Administration, to undermine Mubarak precisely because they anticipated a Muslim Brotherhood takeover and preferred the Muslim Brotherhood to Mubarak. I am among those who knew this would happen and, folks, I’m just a mom in Kentucky with a blog, albeit with a Coptic friend in Egypt. It wasn’t my friend in Egypt who told me this would happen. It was painfully clear from the general reports coming out of Egypt for the past year and a half, or so, that this would happen. Anyone with half a clue could know this would happen. Considering that the administration calls it a “milestone” should give one plenty of reason to understand that the Obama Administration is pleased as punch that Mubarak has been replaced by radical Islamists.
At The Hill, the word is that it doesn’t MATTER to the Obama Administration that the Muslim Brotherhood is a radical Islamist organization bent on destroying Israel and establishing Sharia Law. Of course! That’s what “democracy” is all about, and he is a “democrat.”
The White House defended its support of the newly elected Egyptian president amid Republican criticism Monday, saying he will be judged by his actions, not religion.
The Obama administration on Sunday praised the outcome of Egypt’s election on Sunday, which was won by Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist party.
And…
White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters on Air Force One that the Obama administration was committed to the Arab Spring revolution in Egypt that led to their democratic elections held this past week.
He said the administration looks forward to working with Morsi and hopes he will respect the rights of all Egyptian citizens, including women and religious minorities.
“We judge individuals and parties that are elected in a democratic process by their actions, not by their religious affiliations,” Carney said.
Is it not utterly mind-boggling that so many Americans went to the polls and elected a president (in 2008) who believes the Muslim Brotherhood is peaches and cream, but that Catholicism is a problem?
This hymn always makes me feel better. No worries. God is in control and He is with the Copts in their time of trial. But we must pray for their safety.
Note to Catholics, the Catholic Church recognizes the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist in the Coptic Church. Offer Mass for them.
