The Bishops Are Innocent Until Proven Guilty

“Without education, we are in a horrible and deadly danger of taking educated people seriously.”-- Chesterton

An article at the Wall Street Journal is making a ludicrous claim in a headline: U.S. Bishops Still Stonewall on Sexual Abuse. The author of the piece, David Gibson, notes that Bishop Finn (whom I believe to be innocent, by the way) will go on trial this September, but wants us to believe that the bishops are somehow doing something wrong by leaving a “question” of accountability “unanswered.”

What? A (wonderful) bishop is going to trial, you admit a bishop is going to trial, and you still believe that the bishops aren’t holding themselves “accountable?” What more do you want? Do you want them to relinquish due process? How about they just give up the right to a jury trial, too?  Hey, how about they just throw themselves into jail with no trial!

Pray for our bishops as they remain under relentless attack from the Left and in the mainstream media.
