Unfortunately, a lot of Christians are calling for “party unity” right now when they should be calling for unity in the Church. The Pope has it right.

Pope Benedict XVI urged American Catholics to strive for greater unity, especially among ethnic groups and between bishops and religious orders, in order to carry out the church’s mission in an increasingly hostile society.

Yeah, that. We need to forget about the political parties and be Christians for a change, eh? My Christianity is not defined by which party I support. It’s defined by whether I defend the rights of God in this fallen world. Neither party cares much about God, nor about the freedom of the Church, so neither party will get my support.
