This is yet another example that exhibits to me personally that we are headed for a dark age unless we elect people like Rick Santorum to replace people like Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, who have restricted the freedom of the Church.
Zach Braff (I have no idea who that is, but he has lots of followers) posted this picture of himself (at left) on Facebook and it received almost 9,000 likes.
Why was I on his Facebook page? I was on his Facebook page because over 50 people have retweeted this tweet from him about Rick Santorum and Jesus:
You guys, don’t tell Rick Santorum, but Jesus was a middle eastern, socialist Jew. I think it will bum him out.
His Twitter page is linked to his Facebook page, and since I have no clue who he is, I looked to see. I still don’t know who he is but he has over one million “likes” on his Facebook page. I’m not seeing anything on his website about Jesus. Nothing here, either. Isn’t it unfortunate that so many take their advice about Jesus Christ from such as this?
As a Catholic, Rick Santorum knows, I am certain, that Jesus was middle eastern and a Jew. We Catholics know this and embrace it. As for the “socialist” part, the official teaching of Catholicism, which has over one billion members worldwide, is that socialism is evil.
The Church has rejected the totalitarian and atheistic ideologies associated in modem times with “communism” or “socialism.” She has likewise refused to accept, in the practice of “capitalism,” individualism and the absolute primacy of the law of the marketplace over human labor. Regulating the economy solely by centralized planning perverts the basis of social bonds; regulating it solely by the law of the marketplace fails social justice, for “there are many human needs which cannot be satisfied by the market.” Reasonable regulation of the marketplace and economic initiatives, in keeping with a just hierarchy of values and a view to the common good, is to be commended.
Jesus endorsed no particular form of government, but the Church has authority to bind and loose, and it is very clear to us what the evils of socialism are since it is responsible for the deaths of so many of those made in God’s image.
It is sad that so many take their instruction about Jesus Christ from the wrong people. The fact that they do does not bode well for humanity.
