As the Catholic Church in America takes the president to court over his insistence that the Church should be forced by our government to pay for contraceptive coverage in violation of Church teaching, you would think there would reporters HOUNDING the president and demanding that he explain why he is creating such a religious dispute. But no! Reporters are hounding Rick Santorum because he and his wife have dared to make the personal decision, as all good Catholics do, not to use contraception and to live their lives as faithful Catholics in other areas.

Rick Santorum’s main complaint about the press used to be that he wasn’t getting enough of it. But now that he’s surged to the top of the national polls, the former senator’s campaign is growing increasingly perturbed by a wave of coverage of his views on birth control, abortion, and religion.
So, what are these views on birth control, abortion and religion that are so earth-shattering as to bring out the media hounds?
Well, he has mentioned that birth control is dangerous, but so has the World Health Organization.
Where is the frontal attack on the lynchpin of the left’s argument regarding Mandate HHS — that this mandate is pro woman’s health.
Balderdash!
The World Health Organization has named the birth control pill a Group 1 Carcinogen — right up there with radiation and cigarettes. How many women know this? How many doctors tell them? How many of our daughters are we putting at risk? Why are we cooperating with such misogyny?
Read more at Women of Grace. If we care about women’s health at all, we should look at the science here. Let’s just be honest about it, shall we?
How about abortion? He wants a public debate (mentioned here) about the issue of personhood and at what point human beings become “persons’ under the protection of the Constitution because the country is divided on the topic.
Debate? The open exchange of ideas? Shocking!
How about religion? CLICK HERE (.pdf) to see who the president surrounds himself with. Look into what those people believe about human dignity, marriage, the environment, immigration and the family which is the basic unit of society. Those are ALL social issues, on some level, and if you think they aren’t making policy every single day on those things, you aren’t paying attention. Further, the policy decisions they are making often directly contradict what the vast majority of Christians in this country believe the Bible teaches about those things. Those of us who read our Bibles R-E-G-U-L-A-R-L-Y have had enough of policy after policy after policy rolling out of this White House (.pdf) that is, in all honesty, EVIL.
This is all important because the Left uses religion to advance their agendas in America and if we don’t call them out on these things at every turn, then we are handing them the ball. We need look no further than the president now trying to drive a church — the Catholic Church — out of her mission. One-fourth of Americans claim membership in the Catholic Church and the more the Left insists that evil is not evil at all but is actually “Catholic,” the more our country will go down the tubes culturally and embrace socialism in government.
The scandal is at the White House, and when I see reporters swarming around Rick Santorum because he wants to get the government out of the contraception business and to have an open debate about human dignity and family, I realize just how twisted these media hounds are in their thinking.
Fortunately for us, most Americans disagree with them, which is why Rick Santorum is winning in spite of them. Their power of persuasion is very real, though, and the more desperate they are to scare people, the more we have to work to make sure people understand the truth. The future of the world is in our hands.
