This video is from a Ron Paul supporter in Florida. He interviewed a man on the street who is working for the Romney campaign to distribute flyers. According to the Romney “supporter”, he is actually supporting Newt Gingrich but was paid by the Romney campaign to distribute flyers. He says that the Romney campaign found him because he is unemployed. That “organization” sounds more like Obama’s community organizing to me than grassroots organizing.
I’m not sure we should count this as “job creation” for Mitt. Jobs aren’t great just because they’re jobs. Prostitution is a “job” and what we have here is political prostitution, if you will. This Gingrich supporter is prostituting himself, in a sense, to Mitt Romney. Of course, it’s only an anecdote, but it does reflect what both Paul supporters and Santorum supporters see as being the obvious fruit of candidates like Mitt and Newt. When your candidate lacks conviction, so will your supporters. I’m sure that not all Romney “supporters” are paid to show up, and not all Gingrich supporters would prostitute themselves, but at least some percentage fall under that category.
There are only two campaigns with dedicated supporters: the Paul campaign and the Santorum campaign. Paul and Santorum rely on dedicated and loyal grassroots volunteers. We are the ones who know what our respective candidate stands for. This is because Ron Paul and Rick Santorum know what they stand for and they fight for those things. That dedication and loyalty is reflected in the grassroots organizations.
Mind you, there are huge differences between Paul and Santorum, but if you want a candidate who stands strong on principles and has a clear record of doing so, we are sure you won’t find that in either the Romney or Gingrich campaigns.
