I have a couple of examples here of anti-Catholicism on the Left and the Right, to help my fellow Catholics to remember to stay focused on God and not to get too wrapped up into political movements or agendas.

At Huffington Post, a liberal blog, there is an article critical of Bill Donahue’s announcement to boycott beer companies who have themselves boycotted Catholic parades. The comments are rather disgusting. One commenter refers to traditional cultural events like a St. Patrick’s parade as “diverse hobbies/interests/careers for white, heterosexual, Catholic males.”

At Big Government, a conservative blog, there is an article about Los Angeles area Catholics heading to the Vatican to appeal to Pope Francis on immigration issues. One commenter says, “We don’t tell Pope Francis how to run the Catholic church so he’d better keep his nose out of what we do with illegal alien invaders in the USA. Better yet, he can bring all of our illegal aliens to Rome and let the church take care of them.”

Just keep your heads on straight Catholics. There is anti-Catholicism on both sides of the aisle.
