The Obamacare – Government Shutdown Battle in a Nutshell

by Lisa Graas on September 30, 2013

Here is the Obamacare – Government Shutdown battle in a nutshell.

Our government represents our country. Our country is our “house.” Obamacare is a rat in the house. It is a threat that needs to be eliminated through repeal. Obamacare is the Democrats’ pet rat. They love this rat and will not agree to kill it. So Republicans have decided to threaten to burn the house down in order to kill the rat. They will not fund the government unless Democrats agree to defund Obamacare. Democrats are hanging on to this pet rat for dear life, and Republicans are saying that, because of that, it’s the Democrats’ fault if the house burns down. They could easily avoid burning the house down if they would simply agree to kill their pet rat.

If you’re wondering if Washington has gone crazy, don’t worry. You’re not alone. Eighty percent of Americans don’t want the government to shut down.

I am a conservative Republican, but I don’t believe the end justifies the means. I don’t think it’s okay to burn the house down to kill a rat. I am also patriotic. I don’t think it’s okay to hang a “FAIL” sign on our country, which is what a government shutdown would do to us in the eyes of the world.

Some people have been questioning where I stand politically because I’m not supporting extortion. I am a Catholic first and foremost. I agree that Obamacare is a rat. I don’t agree that burning the house down is the way to end it. If that makes me a traitor to the Republican Party, so be it.

Republicans need to get in touch with real life.
